Blackberry Gets Ready For Q20 Classic Smartphone Launch; Gets 26 Patents; Passport Still A Hit

| By

A few more days before the month of November and everyone will find out whether or not BlackBerry Q20, also known as BlackBerry Classic, will finally be seen in the flesh, since all its images circulating in the web for now are nothing but mere speculations.

The Canadian company sure knows how to keep the thrill going because no official confirmation from them has been released until now, on either the actual image of the device or its release date. But according to the leaked details, the BlackBerry Classic will have a bigger display and an up-to-date hardware.

It reportedly now has a 3.5-inch touch screen, bigger than that of Q10, and at the same time has a physical keyboard for those who miss typing on one. It also includes a much faster processor with 2G RAM, a 2,515-mAh battery, which can last all day, and a microSD card slot for bigger storage space. It has 1,440 x 1,440 pixels screen resolution and a 582 ppi pixel density. It gives a wide display of 60 characters, making the webpage viewing pleasurable and reading documents much easier. It can now support NFC and 4G LTE. It is rumored to be running Blackberry 10.3 OS, supposedly an unreleased OS.

In the meantime, after it has gained momentum through the successful launch of its BlackBerry Passport, it looks like the brand has no plans of slowing down this time in order to recapture the market they have lost due to the release of Android smartphones. The company has suffered quite a big blow when so many mobile device alternatives emerged that they could not seem to keep up with the new ones.

In a report by Bloomberg, BlackBerry is said to have been recently awarded 26 patents from the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) which include wearables, extended security, conference calling, and new handsets. One patent enables a user to unlock the phone using a wearable device without having to key in a passcode.

There was also a word on them producing their own smartwatch which can be automatically paired with a smartphone. Another interesting patent is a case which allows the user to write on without opening the screen.

We can't wait for BlackBerry to reveal all of its innovations and recently acquired patents. Stay tuned for more updates.
