The 'world's thinnest tablet' as Dell claims at 6mm thick (or 0.24 inches) was unveiled at Intel's annual developer conference, that beats even Sony's 6.4mm Xperia Z2 Tablet and Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact. It is the successor of Dell Venue 8 Pro thatw as released early this year.
This is the first tablet to use Intel RealSense. The RealSense is a 3D mapping engine like to what we've seen in Microsoft's Kinect and Amazon Fire Phone. This technology let users to change the focus of an already taken photo, and even measure objects within a picture. It also enables facial recognition, emotion tracking, 3D scanning, and 10- finger gesture recognition.
Reports suggest that this is "the tablet camera of the future." It has an 8-megapixel RealSense camera and a Gallery app that gives you all you need to take full advantage of the 3D snapper. It also has a 2,560 x 1,600 pixel resolution OLED display with deep black levels and stark contrast.
The tablet runs Android 4.4 KitKat and powered by a quad-core Intel Moorefield chip (which can be clocked between 1.6 GHz and 2 GHz). It has 16GB of storage space and microSD card support up to 128GB of external storage.
Reviews on the physical built of the unit has been positive. According to India Today, the Dell Venue 8 7000 "felt very well build" and "appeared like an impressive product." There are no words from the Dell yet of its pricing and its wasn't confirmed if it'll be released on November.
