Actors Debra Messing and Will Chase split. The couple who were together for nearly three years have decided to call it quits, according to a report from Us Weekly.
A representative for the "Smash" actress reportedly confirmed the news to the publication. "Debra Messing and Will Chase have ended their two-and-a-half year relationship," the rep reportedly said.
The couple met and hit it off while filming the now defunct NBC musical drama show "Smash."
In an interview with People in 2012, "Smash" director Michael Mayer spoke of the couple's then budding relationship. "On Broadway, we call it a 'showmance,'" Mayer said. "I don't kno where Debra and Will would have met [otherwise]. So ['Smash'] brought them together, and the context of their onscreen relationship, I'm sure that triggered a lot."
Meanwhile, a source reportedly told E! News that the distance played a huge factor in the relationship's deterioration.
"The problems started when Will went from a recurring to a regular role on 'Nashville.' He's had to spend a lot more time down there," the source told the publication.
"Debra, meanwhile, shoots her show [The Mysteries of Laura] all week here in NYC. It's sad because they really care about each other so much. They didn't want this to happen. But at the end of the day, their schedules and the distance truly got to be too much," the source added.
Another source points at the actress' son and her show as the reasons for the break up. "She is working long hours so her main priority when she has free time is to be with her son," the source said.
Both Debra Messing and Will Chase have previously been married. The 46-year-old actress was married to Daniel Zelman from September 2000 to December 2011 and the 44-year-old Tony Award-winning actor was married to Lori Chase from 1998 to 2008 and Stephanie Gibson from November 2009 to January 2012.
