Dean is finally cured from being a demon and Sam rejoices but it seems like there's still something amiss with the Winchester brothers. Read on for the 'Supernatural' season 10 recap of episode three.
Jensen Ackles returns to the director's chair to helm this week's 'Soul Survivor.' After sitting out last year, he came ready and capable as both this episode's director as well as the hair-raising Demon Dean.
To start off the 'Supernatural' season 10 recap, Sam collects some sanctified blood. From his encounter with Crowley in season eight, fans know that blessed blood is needed to cure a demon. With this in mind, the younger Winchester immediately starts out his quest to cure his brother from his affliction.
At one point, Sam worries about Dean experiencing too much pain but with Castiel's urging, he continues to treat his brother by injecting him with the blood. Dean insists that he likes the "new" him better and taunts Sam into getting angry. He also reminds him of the dark path he took, sacrificing an innocent human's life, just to find out where Dean was.
Castiel, on the other hand, is slowly dying with his stolen grace draining away. On the way to the bunker, he and Hannah get held up by the rogue angel whose partner they had to kill. With Castiel's weakened state, the angel easily overtakes him.
Abandoning his increasingly boring role as King of Hell, Crowley arrives just in time to help Castiel out. He takes the rogue angel's Grace and feeds it to Cas, knowing that he needs full powers to help Sam cure Dean. What is his motive for helping one of his enemies? Could he be getting a bit attached to the Winchester boys, Dean in particular?
With Castiel's Grace restored (for now), he immediately uses his powers to stop Dean from murdering his brother. He and Sam continue with the treatment until Dean eventually turns back to normal.
Although Sam is quite relieved, Dean isn't as jubilant.
As a demon, he had the option to let his humanity go, forgetting about his feelings and everything that was hurting him - including his relationship with Sam. Now that he's human again, all his emotions came back in full force- the guilt, pain and heavy burden. Knowing that Sam had to take dark "consequences" because of him, Dean would undoubtedly become even more depressed. Will Demon Dean come back?
With everything back to normal (sort of), someone needs to upset the balance. A woman with long red hair (looking suspiciously like Abaddon) is introduced towards the end of the episode.
Is this the new demon woman that was previously reported would cause havoc in the near future?
