'Game Of Thrones' star Kit Harington has been known for the mass of long, unruly hair on his head. So it was sort of given that fans would slightly freak out over the drastically cleaner haircut he wore in his new movie, 'Testament Of Youth.'
Avid viewers of the award-winning show are so used to seeing the wild mane of curls that Harington had been sporting since season one. When the 27-year-old appeared as clean-shaven Roland Leighton in the World War I movie, fans couldn't help but get a bit worried for Jon Snow's fate in the series.
With 'Game Of Thrones' known for killing off main characters without remorse, Harington fans had to wonder if he would be killed off from the show soon.
Thankfully, the British actor himself assured fans during the worldwide premiere of 'Testament of Youth' last October 14.
He revealed to Reuters via Wetpaint that he was just wearing a wig for the movie! He also, in effect, assured fans that he will be sticking around a bit longer on the show.
Pointing to the curls on his head, he said, "this hair ain't going anywhere until I finish 'Thrones.'" He also revealed that he has to keep it long and flowing under contract.
"I'm not allowed to cut it," he continued. He does have to trim and maintain it but it "has to be back to the length it's meant to be for 'Thrones' every year."
'Game Of Thrones' Star Kit Harington could very well stay long-haired for a couple more years, assuming that he won't die in the show any time soon.
On his decision to shave off his beard and wear a wig for 'Testament of Youth,' the 'Pompeii' actor said that he wanted "a different look" for Roland.
"I needed to look 19..." he said. "Hopefully, I can pull that off still when I've got no beard or long hair."
As Roland Leighton, he needed to portray a young poet who falls in love with Vera Brittain (Alicia Vikander). They get engaged but he has to leave her behind to fulfil his duty to the country.
The film, that is a "testament to love," "to hope" and "to youth," is based on Vera Brittain's memoirs and book of the same name.
'Testament of Youth' also stars Emily Watson, Dominic West, Colin Morgan, and Hayley Atwell. It will be shown in UK cinemas early next year.
Which haircut is the most fitting for 'Game Of Thrones' star Kit Harington? His Jon Snow hair or his Roland Leighton look?
