Downton Abbey Seaon 5 Spoilers: Lord Grantham’s Pet’s Days Are Numbered Said ITV

| By

Lord Grantham's dog, Isis, appears to be in danger of disappearing, as the British press is speculating that the show may eliminate the dog to avoid any further association to the jihadist group ISIS.

Downton's fifth season is currently airing in the U.K., and (minor spoiler alert!) this weekend's episode involved Lord and Lady Grantham discussing that their dog appeared to not be feeling well.

The dog was still alive through the end of the episode.

According to the reports by The Independent, an ITV rep said in a statement that the dog's name is an "unfortunate coincidence," as the pet, which has been on the show since season two, is named after the Egyptian goddess.

The also rep pointed out that the terrorist group was not yet using that name during much of the filming for season five.

Given that the dog was already an adult when it appeared in an episode set in 1912 and it is still alive and barking on the show in 1924, it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for her to head quietly to that great big kennel in the sky.

Other shows have decided to make changes in light of the terrorist group taking credit for executing hostages.

FX series Archer got rid of its spy agency ISIS, Doctor Who edited a beheading scene and Fox apologized for a poorly timed Sleepy Hollow ad campaign which have angered many viewers.

Downton Abbey's fifth season premieres stateside on PBS on Jan. 5, 2015.
