News of the alleged "Predator 4" movie production broke online last June 24, 2014, and headlining it was Shane Black's taking on the director's helm. On top of that, he dispelled rumors about the movie being a reboot.
AVP(Aliens vs. Predator) Galaxy shared all these, starting with the revelation of Shane Black's taking on the director's chair. Accordingly, he would also be the one to pen the treatment while Fred Dekker would take charge of the scriptwriting. Black then went on to clarify that they were planning to do a sequel, not a reboot.
The Guardian corroborated this information, and even added that what Black was planning to create is an "inventive sequel." The "Iron Man 3" director admitted that overall, he has not been keenly interested in remakes. His exact thoughts on the subject matter, as shared with The Guardian reads:
"Why start over, when you've all this rich mythology yet to mine. I like the idea of expanding and exploring the existing Predator mythology, rather than hitting the restart button."
AVP Galaxy divulged that Black is already familiar with the story premise of "Predator." Schwarzenegger's image may have been the iconic representation of the army that battled the fierce and calculating extraterrestrial in the 1987 installment. But what fans may not be aware of is that Black had been part of the cast, too. He portrayed the role of the bespectacled Commander Hawkins.
Going back to the storyline, what direction would the "Predator 4" movie sequel take?
Before Black stepped into the picture, Robert Rodriguez was rumored to tackle the sequel and work with Adrian Brody once more, reported AVP Galaxy. But with Black now taking over, there may be some noticeable changes in the Predator's adventure, particularly with his would-be hunting ground.
This may be the logical direction the story would take based on the revelation of Gary Busey's DEA agent, as shared by The Guardian. It stated that the Predator prefers hunting in war zones. Therefore, the probability of Black's resorting to a battlefield setting similar to Iraq or Afghanistan for the sequel may not seem so far-fetched.
But as of this writing, neither Black nor any of the people he would be working with has mentioned any new developments on the sequel. Thus, fans would just have to stay tuned for more info on the "Predator 4" movie.
