Another marriage was finally dissolved. According to TMZ Sports, former American baseball left fielder Barry Bonds is out on the market again. His divorce was finalized and his marriage to Elizabeth Watson Bonds is officially over.
The split has been ongoing for years as Elizabeth filed her papers first last 2009. They reconciled and broke up again in 2010 for good. The divorce has been in the court system for four years now but finally, an L.A. County Superior Court judge has signed off on the divorce.
According to the documents filed in Los Angeles which was obtained by TMZ Sports, both Barry and Elizabeth struck a deal privately. This presumably encompasses all aspects including wealth and the custody of their 5-year-old daughter. Both got married in 1998.
50-year-old Bonds played 22 seasons in the Major League Basketball (MLB). His career life was started from 1986 until 2007 where Bonds played his first seven seasons for the Pittsburgh Pirates and then transitioned to San Francisco Giants for 15 years. His father is the former major league All-Star outfielder Bobby Bonds.
Bonds was first married to Susann ("Sun") Margreth Branco and had two children with her, Nikolai and Shikari. They separated in 1994 and divorced that same year. The terms of the divorce caused a media frenzy since a pre-nuptial agreement was signed by his former wife. The agreement stated that she had to "waive her right to a share of his present and future earnings" which was upheld.
On January 1998, Bonds married his second wife, Elizabeth Watson at the San Francisco Ritz-Carlton Hotel. They lived in Los Altos Hills, California with their daughter Aisha. Watson filed for legal separation last June 2009. She cited irreconcilable differences. Six weeks later, she withdrew her action and the couple reconciled for seven months. Watson finally filed for divorce in 2010.
