"Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star Kim Kardashian just celebrated her birthday last October 21 with a "Hawaii vacation getaway" surprise by her rapper husband Kanye West. It seemed like the past year has really been the reality TV queen's year because of so many things worth remembering. It will be too much if we put everything on detail, so we just selected a notable few of Kimmy's best moments right before she turned 34.
Engagement to Kanye West
Known for being lavish in just about everything, Kanye did not disappoint when he proposed to Kim on her 33th birthday last year, hiring a 50-piece orchestra at the AT&T Park in San Francisco to play some of his lady love's favorite songs, complete with fireworks show, and a visual aide that read "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!" But of course, we can't help but swoon over the 15-carat cushion-cut diamond ring customized by Kanye's jewelry designer friend Lorraine Schwatrz.
Gracing the US Vogue Cover
Dreams do come true for this Kardashian female as she has been open about her wanting to be in the cover of the popular high-fashion magazine. Not all celebrities and fashion aficionados agreed on this decision made by Vogue's Anna Wintour, but despite all the criticisms that went Kim's way, the magazine with Kim and Kanye on the cover (which also featured their daughter North) has sold more than 500,000 copies according to Too Fab. It reportedly outsold First Lady Michelle Obama's cover, as well as Beyonce's, having only sold copies of 300,000 and 350,000 respectively.
Italian Wedding
And so everyone thought their much-awaited wedding will be in Paris. It turned out that they were in the city of love only for the wedding rehearsals, rehearsal dinner, along with other hosted events. The day of the wedding came as a surprise to their guests when they were flown in to Italy, as the ceremony and reception would take place at forte di Belvedere in Florence. Kim wore a long sleeved, lace-covered wedding gown by Givenchy during the ceremony, after which she changed it to an embellished ivory dress by Balmain during reception.
British GQ Woman of the Year
As if the everyday attention wasn't enough, Kim got more of this when she bagged British GQ's Woman of the Year, held in London. We loved what she said when she went on stage to receive the trophy. " What a huge honor to win Woman of the Year. It's so special. i want to thank my husband for making me feel like the Woman of the Year every single day." She sure knew how to make the rapper smile.
