All eyes must now be on Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot as she keeps striking the iron while it's hot. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the native Israeli actress is now in the early negotiation stage for the female lead role of the 1959 classic movie Ben-Hur. And if everything goes well, she will take on the character of Esther, a slave and Ben Hur's love interest.
As we all know, the earlier film has won 11 Oscars, which is quite a tough challenge to beat. And because of the success of the film, the expectation for the remake is quite the same. The pressure is now on for the writers, producers and director of the new Ben-Hur movie, which is an adaptation of Lew Wallace's 1880 novel, Ben-Hur:A Tale of the Christ.
Hollywood Reporter has disclosed that Boardwalk Empire actor Jack Huston will play the role of Ben-Hur, the Jewish prince who was betrayed into slavery by his childhood friend Messala, played by Toby Kebbell (from Dawn of the Planet of the Apes). As a result, Ben-Hur is obliged to fight for his freedom and vengeance with the help of Morgan Freeman's character, who trains Ben-Hur how to win at chariot-racing.
All big-budget films are landing Gadot's way as it was just recently announced the plans of DC and Warner Bros. for her to have her own Wonder Woman spin-off movie scheduled for release on 2017, apart from her current project Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. She is also said to appear on Justice League Part 1, also scheduled to hit the screens on 2017. Moreover, Hollywood Reporter confirmed the Fast & Furious star just finished filming Triple Nine alongside Kate Winslet, and Criminal co-starring Ryan Reynolds.
The 29-year old beauty will start filming the Ben-Hur remake in Europe next year in time for its February 2016 release date as scheduled.
