Universal has already announced 'Jem and the Holograms' release date that is set on October 2015, according to a report from.Variety.
The movie is based from Hasbro's 80s hit animated series. Variety also added that this the " The musical fantasy reimagines Jem amid the current hyperlinked social media era in a story of a small-town girl going from underground video sensation to global superstar with her three sisters."
'Nashville' star Aubrey Peeples as the lead role Jem, a teenage orphan with a rockstar alter ego.
Other cast include Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, and Hayley Kiyoko round out the rest of Jem's band, the Holograms. Ryan Guzman will play Rio, a love interest for Jem, and Molly Ringwald. While Juliette Lewis is rumored to have a secret role in the upcoming 'Jem and the Holograms' movie.
Jem will be the lead singer, and the three other sisters plays the keyboard, the guitar and the bass player.
As per Hallels as we can recall the movie was announced last March and 'this came into realization due to the successes of Hasbro's Transformers and GI Joe film adaptations, which in turn allowed Hasbro to sign a six picture contract with Universal. Jem and the Holograms was part of the deal.'
The upcoming movie will be directed by John Chu script by Ryan Landels and will produced by Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions, Scooter Braun for SB Projects, Bennett Schneir, and Brian Goldner and Stephen Davis of Hasbro Studios.
In interview with Aubrey Peeples via E! Online she spilled some beans about what to expect, "I'm not allowed to say too much about what the looks are, but I can guarantee you that there's going to be a lot of pink. Nobody will be disappointed with the hair, makeup, and the fashion... We had a lot of different performance looks, each one is truly outrageous. I look at pictures and I can't believe that's me. It's so weird."
