ABC drama Scandal star Kerry Washington reveals how she feels when doing sex scenes with 54-year-old co-star Tony Goldwyn.
The 37-year-old actress admitted in an interview with Allure magazine that "sex scenes are always awkward" and "they're hard to do."
Washington, who plays a crisis management expert to the President in the Shonda Rimes series, said of her character's hot scenes with her Goldwyn's character who is President Fitzgerald Grant, "You're doing things that you're supposed to do with only certain people in your life. Because this is not your real partner in life, doing that is awkward. And then doing it in a room full of people is awkward."
Washington also revealed that she is always mindful of Goldwyn's wife Jane Michelle Musky. According to Washington, "Particularly with a show like ours, where people are so invested in the chemistry, you just learn to be careful, because people's real relationships in life are important." She also added that she "respect and admire" Goldwyn's wife and his family and Goldwyn also "feels the same way" about her. They both "learn to be careful" about what they say and how they say it.
Goldwyn has been married to his wife, who is a production designer, since 1987 and the couple have two daughters together.
Kerry Washington rose to prominence when she played the character of Olivia Pope in the series Scandal since 2012. In 2013, Washington was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television series.
She also appeared in several movies, including Ray (2006), The Last King of Scotland (2006), Fantastic Four (2005 and 2007), and Django Unchained (2012).
On June 2013, Washington married NFL player Nnamdi Asomugha. They have a daughter, Isabelle Amarachi, who was born April this year.
