George Clooney's wife Amal Alamuddin is reportedly back at work already just a few weeks after her big celebrity wedding. According to a report from TODAY, the human rights lawyer is also now carrying the last name of her Hollywood star husband.
The 36-year-old wed the former most eligible bachelor in Hollywood last September 27 in Venice, giving her the right to go by the name the uses now: Amal Clooney. George Clooney's wife reportedly has her new last name listed on the website of her London-based firm, Doughty Street Chambers.
The name change of George Clooney's wife was discussed at the TODAY show by hosts Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb.
According to a report by TODAY about the said episode, Kathie Lee explained why also did what George Clooney's wife did. The host took on her husbands' last names after being married twice.
Kathie Lee said: "The era that I was growing up, it was just traditional. You did."
"Certainly my mother's era, you were weird if you didn't. You were hiding something," she added.
However, Hoda Kotb disagreed with her co-host. The divorced TV personality narrated about not using her then husband's last name: "I didn't want to... and now I clearly made the right choice."
She added that it is "ridiculous for society to assume women will ditch the family name they were born with after a wedding."
The host joked though George Clooney would be an exception to her rule about not carrying her husband's last name. She said, reported by TODAY: "I'd do it in a second, because 'Clooney?' Could you imagine?"
"I love that she took it. She's a strong woman, she took his name. I think it's terrific," Hoda Kotb said about George Clooney's wife.
Just recently, an insider has revealed to Hollywood Life that the newlyweds are "ready" for a baby.
The source told the news site that the George Clooney "would be a doting dad."
"He's talked about wanting kids of his own, what he'd be like as a dad and what he's looking forward to the most... telling bedtime stories. He's a wonderful storyteller," the insider said.
The insider told Hollywood Life that the "Oceans 11" star is "just a natural" when it comes to children.
"All of his friends know what a wonderful dad he'll make and agree that he has met his match in Amal who will no doubt make a brilliant mom," the source said.
