Julia Roberts, best known for her movie in Pretty Woman 25 years ago and other critically-acclaimed films thereafter, was given honor by the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN) Humanitarian Respect Award last October 17 together with her husband, Danny Moder for supporting charities and causes. Roberts also extend assistance to UNICEF, Heal the Bay, Stand Up to Cancer, among others.
Speaking before a young crowd where she said, "I am moved", there is a feeling of reluctance in being tagged a big word as 'humanitarian'. Therefore, she explains that, "A humanitarian is a person who brings attention to the welfare and good works of others. In that regard, we are that. We are all that. I feel like this award should be the big mom award because that is what moms do all day, every day."
In a way, she is right feeling that way and should be lauded for her honesty. Being humanitarian, in a way, speaks of committing less mistake to other humans, which she knew she's not too innocent of. Julia's haters issued comments like, "a humanitarian doesn't steal someone else's husband" referring to husband Danny's leaving her make-up artist wife so he could marry her. Aside from that infamous inhumane act, many believe her naughty deeds with her A-lister boyfriends of long ago, aren't humane. Incidentally, rumors are spreading of her marriage with Danny as rocky. During the awards ceremony, Julia's husband did not join her on stage.
This could also be the underlying reason why she was reluctant to give marital advice to Ocean co-star and friend, George Clooney, who recently tied the knot with Amal Alamuddin. Interviewed by Liz Hernandez for Access Hollywood, as she could say in jest was, "Oh yes. I'll be advising George Clooney on his marital life. I'll get right on that!" Julia joked. This, she ended with, "Well, the only advice for that is finding your person - and he's found his person."
