Annabelle 2014 Movie: The Conjuring Spin-Off Film Causes Riot In France, Leading To Cancellation Of Screening Events

| By

Annabelle 2014 movie was described as the "laziest devil-doll in movie history" by the Guardian and yet, that doesn't stop people from storming cinemas to see the doll that was made famous by another horror story, the Conjuring. In France, the horror-movie, which stars Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, and Alfred Woodard, did what it was expected to do to movie-goers. Audiences screamed until there's no more sound coming out, were on the edges of their seats, and make them feel like they are also being targeted by the doll. However, many fans took the scare too much that their behavior lead to the cancellation of the screening until further notice.

The Guardian reported that teenage film goers at the 450-seat Les 3 Palmes cinema in Marseilles reacted so hard on the Annabel 2014 movie that a riot ensued.

"Some didn't have the most elementary notion of how to behave," Didier Tarizzo, owner of the theater, said.

"They were throwing popcorn and talking at the top of their voices or walking round."

To control the crowd, Tarizzo decided to cancel future screenings.

"It's not up to me to teach young people how to respect the law," Tarizzo answered when asked why he had cancelled future screenings. "What worried me was that a cinemagoer irritated by all the noise could have had a go at an adolescent."

Because of the riot, managers from Marseille, Strasbourg and Montpellier also canceled their scheduled screening for the Annabelle 2014 movie until further notice out of fear that under-16 movie-goers might start fight again.

Annabelle 2014 movie is doing great in the box office despite not receiving nice words from critics. In film review site Rotten Tomatoes, received only a 31% rating saying it "borrows unabashedly from better horror films, content to leave viewers with a string of cheap jolts that fail to build on the far more effective The Conjuring."
