Channing Tatum Reveals His Past And Present Prepared Him For Fatherhood

After the 34-year-old Magic Mike actor Channing Tatum revealed his childhood struggles with poverty, ADHD and dyslexia, Tatum accredits all of his past as well as what he had accomplished as an actor, to have paved the way for him being a father.

Aside from acting, Tatum is also a film producer, dancer, and model. He rose to prominence when he was given the breakthrough role in the 2006 dance film Step Up, where he also met his wife, Jenna Dewan.

Tatum played several roles - one of those is the character Duke in the 2009 action film G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra and its sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Both G.I. Joe movies were commercially successful grossing more than $300 million at the box office.

In 2012, he played the main character in the movie Magic Mike which he also produced. The movie was inspired by his early life working as a stripper.

Tatum also starred as Greg Jenko in the action comedy film 21 Jump Street and 22 Jump Street, its sequel.

Aside from those, Tatum has also appeared in Dear John in 2010 and The Vow in 2012. Both films were commercially successful.

In an interview with The New York Times' T Magazine, the proud father said, "You notice your behavior, like, 'Wow, I don't have much patience right now. Why is that?'" Tatum explained, "You spend the day watching this thing constantly taking in information, and you have to be sure you're making that happen. At the end of the day when I put her to bed, I feel glad to have some peace but say to myself, 'That was so much fun.'"

In 2006, after Tatum has met Dewan on the set of Step Up, they started dating and got engaged in September 2008. A year after, the couple got married in Malibu, California. In May 2013, they welcomed their daughter, Everly, who was born in London.
