Naughty Dog have confirmed their interest to return in the world which they marvelously rendered last year. A world that cathes you within the first 15 minutes and one that mesmerized you as it goes on. Stunning graphics and incomparable voice acting, up to Gustavo Santaolalla's spectacular score can never really deny how magnificent this game is.
The first official information from Naughty Dog and Sony concerning a come back to this universe was interesting although it's a bit vague.
"We have started brainstorming some stuff. To be honest, some of them are sequel ideas, and some of them are brand new IP - we've spent the last few weeks brainstorming new IP", Druckman told Eurogamer.
"So we have to get some good steps and see... It's kind of like how we approached Left Behind. Can we tell people a story that's really worth telling, and that's not repeating itself? And if we can't, where can we get inspired - what is something that's really going to challenge us, and push storytelling in this medium forward?"
"It's something where we can have a feel of where the demand is, and where our time is best spent. It's something that we'll figure out as we move forward."
The news actually started with Hypable, who found a relevant quote from The Last of Us director Neil Druckmann:
"We're playing with some ideas, but no direction has been set yet for the next game."
Hypable took the mentioning of a "next game" as proof that the game was in progress. Moreover, this was expanded upon. KDrama Stars supports Hypable's first report; claiming the game is officially confirmed.
According to their reports, throughout the recent PAX Prime Expo, it was stated on the official record that The Last of Us 2 is in development. They also reported that The Last of Us 2 has a tentative release date of 2016.
But according to some gamers, the post from Druckmann came 7 months ago.
So until now, no news have really been accurate about the release of The Last of Us 2. And what's on the line is the release of The Last of Us movie.
