The long-standing franchise of the George Lucas epic space opera is yet again under development as another video game is nearing its launch. "Star Wars: Battlefront 3" release date has been announced, with a leaked gameplay revealing Leia in battle.
Electronic Arts or EA Games obtained the rights to develop the "Star Wars" games since May 2013. However, numerous titles have already been developed since the Atari 2600 as in the "Star Wars: Jedi Arena" released in 1983, set between the time of episode IV to VI.
The upcoming "Star Wars: Battlefront 3" is described by EA Games in its official site as "the ultimate Star Wars battle experience, brought to life by DICE - creators of the award-winning Battlefield series. Fight in epic Star Wars battles on iconic planets and rise through the ranks playing as the heroic Rebellion or the evil galactic Empire. Whether fighting through blaster-wielding troops, or piloting your favorite Star Wars combat vehicles like snowspeeders, speeder bikes, and AT-ST's, Star Wars Battlefront puts you at the center of the galactic conflict!"
According to Patrick Soderlund of EA, although the "Star Wars: Battlefront 3" release date could be within that of the upcoming "Episode VII", the video game will not be wholly related to the film.
In an investor call for the upcoming "Episode VII" film, Soderlund shared: "What we're building is more rooted in the traditional Star Wars universe and not so much necessarily linked to the movies being made. And that's just because we wanted to make a game that celebrated the history of Star Wars."
On the Star Wars: Battlefront 3" release date, he shares, "Obviously there will be things in there that are somewhat tied to the new movie. I wouldn't say that we have a particular tie to the movie. Now, obviously we would prefer to be close to the movie, but I wouldn't say that we're directly tied to it."
Recently, a leaked gameplay has reached Youtube, where Padme Amidala is seen searching for members of the Fett family as well as Darth Vader. Leia on the other hand is battling with Siths as she takes them out with a blaster.
"Star Wars: Battlefront 3" release date for PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One is scheduled on mid-2015.
