In case you haven't started on the show, walk away now as this post will be filled with major Gotham TV series spoiler. Robin Lord Taylor has been the show stealer ever since the first episode of this Batman-inspired show aired. In its debut, he instantly stunned audiences with his convincing portrayal of infamous Batman villain Penguin, a.k.a. Oswald Cobblepot. He got sympathy instead of being hated. He looked like some weakling and is the laughing stock in Fish Mooney's (Jada Pink Smith). He was a dispensable man but when Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) decided to spare Oswald his life, that's the time that 'Penguin' started showing his potential to become a bigger monster in the chaotic city of Gotham.
Although Oswald Cobblepot has already committed heinous crimes, like slashing fisherman's throat for sandwich and killing a man for a uniform he needs to get a job in a restaurant, Robin Lord Taylor thinks it is not even half of what Penguin can really do. The darkness in Oswald is yet to reach its full potential.
"I think we're 10 percent there," Taylor told Hit Fix.
In previous Gotham TV series spoiler he revealed to TV Line, Taylor said that his character is determined to never become the weak one again.
"He's thinking that he's never going to be powerless again, and that he won't let anyone stand in his way," Taylor said.
"He's immediately learning how to play people off of other people," he added. "His fearlessness in terms of achieving what he wants - which is to run Gotham City - and the lengths to which he goes will surprise people."
He is fearless, smart, and crazy enough to disregard anyone who will get in the way in his quest to rule Gotham. Does this include Jim Gordon who let him live after being ordered Mafia boss Carmine Falcone? (This is another Gotham TV series spoiler so read at your own risk) At the end part of the third episode, Oswald appeared at the door of Jim and later tried to convince the police officer that 'a war is coming.'
"I do think that Gordon is really the only person in Gotham City who Penguin trusts and, on top of that, he owes him his life and I don't think he takes that lightly," Taylor explained.
