Blue Sky Studios is owned by 20th Century Fox and the partnership has brought audiences the "Ice Age" franchise. With four films released since 2002, "Ice Age" franchise has been known as the second highest-grossing franchise, following "Shrek." Earning up to over $2.8 billion worldwide in sales.
Other creations of Blue Sky/Fox include "Robots" in 2005, "Dr. Seuss' Horton Hears a Who!" in 2008 and "Rio" in 2011. To date, there are four animated films that are officially in the works. "Peanuts", "Ice Age 5", "Ferdinand" and "Anubis" will be released from 2015 to 2018, accordingly.
Talks of the production of these four films began in 2008. As Blue Sky/Fox acquired the rights to "Anubis," the last of the four has been bumped to 2018, as the fifth installment of "Ice Age" takes the 2016 slot.
Official "Anubis" 2018 movie news information such as cast and plot have not been revealed. Apart from the release date, Variety reports that the first draft of the film has been written by David H. Steinberg known for his work in "American Pie 2" and "The Simpsons".
"Anubis" 2018 movie news speculations reveal that it will be adapted loosely from the Zick novel. Bruce Zick's works include "Finding Nemo", "A Bug's Life" and "The Road to El Dorado".
According to Zick in an interview with CBR News, "'The Anubis Tapestry' is about bringing the mummy mythology to new life. When Chance Henry's father is transformed into a mummy, the boy must become a mummy himself and enter the dreaded Underworld to save his dad. In the process, we reinvent ancient Egypt, the Domain of the Dead, the Elder Gods, and the use of Egyptian Magic."
