Why Anthony Kiedis Refuse To Play New Songs From Red Hot Chili Pepper's Upcoming Album?

| By

Fans are patiently waiting for the Red Hot Chili Peppers to finally announce the official release date of the band's new album.

And while most bands would be willing to sing songs from their new album during shows and tours, the American rock band is not one of them.

Talking to Rolling Stone, Anthony Kiedis, explained that while he would love to play new songs live, he and the rest of the band decided not to.

"The torture about doing this [show] is that we've been writing new music for the last year, and we've written some songs that I feel are as good as any songs we've ever written," he explained. "We're just dying to play the new songs - but we can't, because every single human has a recording device on them at all times."

And while fans should have to wait a little longer before they hear new music from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kiedis did offer to share details about the progress of the album.

In the interview, Kiedis shared the band's experience working with acclaimed music producer, Danger Mouse.

"He's very good about coming up with super-modern ideas, but he'll also touch on the acoustic guitar in the control room and strip the song down to its acoustic essentials, which is a beautiful place to be," he said.

Band drummer, Chad Smith, in a separate interview with Rolling Stone, shared how the band struggled to work on the new album.

"And we wrote a bunch of songs that way," the drummer revealed. "And we're now going to try another method that will be really challenging for us and will bring new, exciting results for the band. We've written and recorded in a way that we've never done before, so the record is going great. We all have high hopes that it's going to take off and we're going to do something very different and unique for the Red Hot Chili Peppers."
