Hideo Kojima Removed From 'Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain' Box Art As Release Date Comes Close! Feud With Konami Getting Worse

| By

Less than two months prior to "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" release date, another controversy has hit the people involved in the highly controversial game.

While everything is reportedly right on track despite the ongoing "feud" between game creator Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami, the giant gaming company reportedly removed all the references to the "MGSVTPP" creator from its box art.

"The latest pack shots were uploaded yesterday, and NeoGAF users spotted a couple of changes appear to have been made," IGN reported. "You can see the old box art below on the left, with the new one on the right. In the bottom left of each cover the Kojima Productions logo has been removed, while "A Hideo Kojima Game" is also absent from just below the console masthead."

Apparently, the two parties involved have tried to resolve their issues as Konami has started to put back the name of Kojima to its products, but this move has proven that there's still something going on between them and whatever it is it's not looking good.

Contrary to Hideo Kojima's previous statement that he is still very much involved with "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain," it seems like Kojima's involvement as of the moment is limited if none.

"I want to reassure fans that I am 100% involved and will continue working on 'Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain,' I'm determined to make it the greatest game I've directed to date. Don't miss it!" Hideo Kojima previously said of his involvement with the game.

And to further reassure fans of the game's future Konami has released an official statement via Kotaku, claiming that Kojima's exit will not in any way affect the production of "Meta Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain."

"In accordance with the recent change in production organization of all of Konami, Kojima Productions, as well as other internal production companies, has had its name, etc., changed to move into the corporate headquarters work structure."

"The name and organization has changed, but as before, MGSV: TPP is continuing as a work from director Kojima and the existing team members."

Adding, "The social networking account has also been changed, but the new account has the same Metal Gear team members as the previous one, and is updating with the latest news. As the team members who are tweeting is unchanged, we would like your continued support and follows."

Furthermore Konami explained more about Kojima's involvement with "Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain's" development saying, "director Kojima is playing the game, checking all the small details and giving directions to the staff as the title continues to completion. Bringing the thoughts and ideas of director Kojima in an open world game of the size of TPP is incredibly difficult, the director and the team that's been there from the start are coming together as one as they aim to finish the game, so please give them the support they need."

"Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain" release date is slated on Sept. 1, 2015
