In previous How To Get Away With Murder spoiler, Katie Findlay, who plays the brave and cocky Rebecca Sutter, said that if there is one guy that fans should be worried about, it is Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch). Talking to TV Line, the 24-year old actress said that "in general, people should be a little bit worried about Wes because the boy's messed up."
"Wes is truly, I think, a much darker character than Rebecca. Rebecca just wears it on the outside more," she explained.
However, for How To Get Away with Murder creator Peter Nowalk, Wes Gibbins is not exactly the weakest. In fact, among all Annalise Keating's (played by Viola Davis) student assistants, Wes has an inner strength. Gibbins seems the be the only who didn't come from an upper class family. He struggled a lot growing up and that is something that made him what he is today. As he is embroiled in the middle of a horrific crime, his experiences will be put into good use.
In the recent How To Get Away with Murder spoiler from TV Line, Nowalk revealed that Wes Gibbins is more than what people think of him.
"That was a big bomb," Nowalk said referring to the 'puppy dog' and the story he shared to Rebecca about his mother committing suicide when he was only 12 years old.
"It was buried in a bunch of information that was not significant, and it explains a lot of Wes' behavior; it explains that he has a deep sadness, a loneliness. It maybe explains a little of his 'damsel-in-distress-rescue syndrome,' too."
TV Line also wrote quoting the brain behind How to Get Away with Murder:
"Nowalk also hints that even though Wes doesn't come from the "shark-feeding" upper-class world inhabited by most of his Middleton University cohorts, he's actually "much stronger than people think at first glance. Wes has been through things that are worse than any of [his Keating Five counterparts]. He knows how to shut down his emotions in the dramatic events of Murder Night."
On what episode Wes Gibbins' past will be explored, that remains to be answered. How To Get Away with Murder winter finale will air today and it will return on January 29 next year.
