The Muscle Milk Recovery Grant Program launched this week, which would provide up to $250,000 in grants to help rebuild and revitalize athletic programs in high schools across the United States, corporation CytoSport announced this week.
CytoSport, the parent company for the Muscle Milk Ready-to-Drink protein-filled energy beverage, started taking submissions for high school programs in need through the Muscle Man official Facebook page, www.facebook.com/musclemilk, from Monday, May 21 through November 30, 2012, as noted in Muscle Man's press release issued Monday. Recipient programs for the grants will be chosen in January 2013.
"High school athletic programs are critical to the overall development of student-athletes, and we are dedicated to helping them succeed," CytoSport Chief Marketing Officer Nikki Brown stated for the press release. "The Muscle Milk Recovery Grant Program is a great way we can provide financial resources to programs in need in local communities around the country."
The $250,000 in grants will be split up to benefit a variety of school programs in financial hardship, if they are outlined in the applications set by those nominating their high schools. Grants will be awarded up to $25,000, confirmed the press release, and applicants must be at least 14 years old to participate and nominate the high school of their choice. As part of the application process, participants must submit a written statement highlighting what their athletic program required, and provide photos and video to support their request and "further tell their story," the press release said.
In addition to launching the grant giveaway, the Muscle Milk Recovery Grant Program will launch a limited-edition patriotic-themed line of packaging of its drinks, which, according to the press release, help promote "workout recovery, lean muscle growth and sustained energy."
The packaging of the limited set will include a red, white, and blue theme, as listed in the press release, and a portion of the sales will go towards funding the Recovery Grant Program.
