"The Captain America 3" release date is scheduled for 2016. Robert Downey Jr. has been confirmed to appear in the upcoming movie as Iron Man.
There is a speculation going around that the upcoming "Captain America 3" film will be the last time that Chris Evans will play the leading role. Evans has a six picture contract and he still has two left.
Another rumor about the upcoming "Captain America 3" is the impending civil war which will pit superheroes against superheroes. Based on the Marvel comic book series, the United States government has enacted a superhero registration act. Captain America is against the registration act while Iron Man supports it. Other Marvel characters have also chosen sides either for, or against, the legislation.
In this Civil War, Captain America will die and it is rumored that Sebastian Stan may assume the role of Captain America in case Chris Evans gives up his shield. Stan played the role of Bucky Barnes in "Captain America: Winter Soldier." Unlike Evans, Stan has a seven contract picture left.
In case "Captain America 3" is the Civil War adaptation, various characters from the comic book will appear and fans will get to see the Avengers, Spiderman, Mr. Fantastic and Nick Fury.
Robert Downey Jr. will also make an appearance in an upcoming Avenger movie that is set to release in 2018. The Daily Beast speculates about Marvel's reason for casting Iron Man as the villain in "Captain America 3." Marvel may no longer be interested in casting Robert Downey Jr. for a fourth Iron Man installment and this is probably the reason why Marvel wants to portray Iron Man as the bad guy in the "Captain America 3."
The story plot for "Captain America 3" is not yet known. The directors for this upcoming film are the brothers Anthony and Joe Russo. Chris Evans plays the role of Steve Rogers aka Captain America and Robert Downey Jr. plays the role of Tony Stark aka Iron Man. Anthony Mackie is rumored to play the role of Sam Wilson aka Falcon.
